BCC traveled to the United Kingdrom from June 27th - July 8th, 2011.

Planning for the Boston Children’s Chorus' tour to the United Kingdom began during the summer of 2010, when Artistic Director Anthony Trecek-King traveled there to work with the National Youth Chorus of Great Britain.

"The chorus programs in Great Britain are terrific” said Anthony. “I observed and worked with Simon Halsey [Chorus Director of the City of Birmingham Symphony Chorus and founder of the City of Birmingham Youth Chorus] and we wanted to find a way for our choirs to sing together.”

Shortly thereafter, discussions began with the City of Birmingham Symphony Chorus and the Sage Gateshead, a unique North East England music venue which supports music education and programming. BCC will perform at both of these leading institutions during the tour. BCC also works with ACFEA, professional touring consultants, to customize the trip, organize travel arrangements, and promote the concerts.

BCC is proud to collaborate with local youth organizations to provide music workshops and volunteer services. Through these activities, members of the Premier Choir and Young Men’s Ensemble learn to be international citizens, understanding others' perceptions of their country in a new way. These partnerships have been very meaningful and mutually beneficial.

The Boston Children's Chorus wishes to thank Simon Halsey, Jack Halsey, Elen Elis, CBSO Chorus Manager, Edward Milner, Sing Up Workforce Development Director at The Sage Gatehead, Emma Cochrane, Youth Musicians Programme Coordinator at the Sate Gateshead, parents, singers, the BCC Board of Directors and all of our supporters.
