Boston Children’s Chorus celebrates Martin Luther King Day with Grammy winner Patti Austin


Disney, Nickelodeon teen stars Christopher and Kyle Massey also featured

BOSTON – Grammy Award-winner Patti Austin and TV stars Christopher and Kyle Massey will help the

Boston Children’s Chorus (BCC) honor the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Monday, Jan. 17 at BCC’s 8th annual tribute concert, “Walk Together Children.

Brought together by their love of music, the singers of the Boston Children’s Chorus represent the harmony that was Dr. King’s dream. The youths work together, acknowledging their differences and embracing their similarities, to create a moving and inspirational sound of unity. By doing so, they are changing the world one song at a time.

This year, BCC welcomes Austin, who topped the pop charts with classic hits "Baby Come to Me," and "How Do You Keep the Music Playing,” has earned nine Grammy nominations and earned the statuette for her jazz album, “Avant-Gershwin.” She recently co-produced the "We Are the World 2" recording/video for Haiti Relief, co-created the "Over My Shoulder" mentoring program and this month will release her eagerly-anticipated new pop CD, entitled "Sound Advice".

Kyle Massey currently stars as “Milo” in the Disney Channel’s popular animated comedy “Fish Hooks,” which was just picked up for a second season. Most recently he was first runner up on “Dancing with the Stars.” He is known for starring as Cory Baxter in Disney Channel's hit sitcom, "Cory in the House" and “That’s So Raven,” and received an NAACP Image Award nomination for his work on those shows. Christopher Massey is warming the hearts of kids everywhere as the lovable "Michael" in Nickelodeon's hit series "Zoey 101.” A veteran of commercials and having appeared in numerous TV shows, Christopher is no stranger to the stage. He first roared his way into the hearts of thousands as "young Simba" in Disney's 2003 stage production of "The Lion King" at the prestigious Pantages Theatre in Los Angeles.

The Boston Children’s Chorus, a multi-racial, multi-ethnic arts education organization, was founded by Hubie Jones in 2003 to purposefully unite area children ages 7-18 so they may learn discipline and develop leadership skills through intensive choral training and high-profile public performance experiences locally, throughout the U.S. and around the world. This season, more than 350 youths from 70 communities proudly represent the city of Boston as ambassadors of harmony

The 8th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Tribute Concert is Monday, Jan. 17 at historic Jordan Hall in Boston at 6:45 p.m. It is televised locally by WCVB-TV Ch. 5 in Boston, and nationally syndicated throughout the country. Tickets are also available for the afternoon dress rehearsal.
