It’s a gray, dull Thursday afternoon in the Institute of Contemporary Art’s Barbara Lee Family Theater, and Anthony Trecek-King, the artistic director of the Boston Children’s Chorus, is encouraging his charges to “be very aggressive.”

The Boston Children’s Chorus (BCC) is set to debut their world premiere performance Friday, May 31 at 7:30 pm at the Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA) in Boston, MA with a second performance slated for the following night on June 1. The group will perform “A Boy Called King,” written specifically for the chorus by acclaimed composer Daniel Roumain.

His face lights up as he sings a few bars of Michael Jackson’s “We Are the World,” a song that inspires him with its message of hope and makes him believe in the power of music. His voice belongs on the top-20 pop chart, yet he is only 15 years old.

Together in Song is a celebration of both choral music and of the myriad ensembles and personalities who present it, woven together by host Anthony Trecek-King, artistic director of the Boston Children’s Chorus.
