Greetings!

Happy Spring from everyone at the Boston Children's Chorus! As we approach the conclusion of our successful 5th Anniversary Season, we are proud of what we have accomplished as an organization, and we are excited at the prospect of growth and change planned for the upcoming season.

In this year of achievement, we celebrate the nationally syndicated television broadcast of our Martin Luther King concert, our appearance on the nationally- acclaimed NPR radio show From the Top, and our approaching cultural exchange tour to Jordan at the invitation of His Royal Majesty King Abdullah II. The Boston Children's Chorus continues to thrive, expanding the numbers of singers, performances and impact on the Boston community.

As you may already know, we are undergoing a planned leadership transition. David C. Howse will succeed Annette Rubin as our new Executive Director in July. David has been with the chorus for five years, currently serving as Director of Operations and Programs, and is passionate about the organization and our mission. Please join us in welcoming him to this new leadership position.

We welcome you to visit our office/rehearsal space to experience a rehearsal in action. BCC Central is an energetic and stimulating place filled with singers and families, and we would love to share this excitement with you. Also, please join us at our next concert on May 30th at The Strand Theatre! Thank you once again for your continued support of the Boston Children's Chorus.

Grant Jones
BCC Singer Appointed to Governor's Youth Council

Congratulations to BCC Young Men's Ensemble Singer Grant Jones who was recently appointed to the Governor's Statewide Youth Council for a 2 year term!

The 28-member Council will focus on Governor Patrick's priorities of education, economic development, civic engagement, and community outreach, and will advise him as representatives of our state's youth.

The Governor's initiative is intended to encourage and motivate young people to get involved in their communities, and allow youth to participate in problem solving through assuming leadership and planning roles.

Activities the Council will undertake include working closely with other youth councils as well as local councils to address youth-related issues, and recruiting young people into local councils in collaboration with the Governor's Office.

Please join all of us at BCC in congratulating Grant on a job well done!
Premier and Young Men's Choirs to tour Jordan
BCC to Tour Jordan in Summer 2009

We are thrilled to announce that the Boston Children's Chorus has been invited to tour the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan by His Royal Majesty King Abdullah II in commemoration of 60 years of official US - Jordanian relations!

Fifty-five singers from our Premier Choir and Young Men's Ensemble will embark on a two-week cultural exchange tour on June 30 for what promises to be a life- changing experience for our singers, giving them the opportunity to learn about a Middle Eastern culture and its history by forming friendships across global boundaries, and participating in a specially-designed pre-tour educational program.

This cultural exchange is an unprecedented opportunity to foster cross-cultural understanding and a great way to solidify our bonds of friendship in this 60th year of official relations between our two countries.

We look forward to keeping you posted!

Boston Children's Chorus is sponsored in part by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency. The New England Conservatory of Music is our lead artistic partner. State Street Corporation is our lead corporate sponsor.
