As we collectively catch our breath following
the tremendous success of our 5th annual
concert in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King,
Jr., we are reminded of the incredible pride
we feel in our choristers. The televised
Jordan Hall performance once again inspired
an audience in the scores of thousands, who
have come to expect these young musical
ambassadors to mark the King holiday with a
stirring performance displaying artistic
excellence.
A huge "thank you" to all parents and other
volunteers who worked tirelessly to make the
MLK concert weekend a huge success. Their
dedication helped to ensure a flawless
performance, one that showcased choristers'
growth as musicians and their embodiment of
Dr. King's ideals.
With our performance season just half over,
children in each choir are making beautiful
music together and feeling duly proud of
their accomplishments. Energized, we now turn
toward the future as we hit our musical
stride, and focus on these upcoming events:
- On March 1st we will host our first
annual benefit concert to fund scholarships
to keep the BCC available to children from
diverse economic backgrounds who love to
sing. Details about the benefit concert
follow, below.
- An April 5th concert will showcase our
amazing Training Choirs. Details to follow
later.
Starting in March, the BCC will begin
recruiting singers for the 2008-2009
performance season. Currently, we bring
together nearly 300 children in 9 choirs who
continue to strive toward musical excellence.
We are delighted with the commitment and
enthusiasm each child brings to the Chorus,
and look forward to welcoming new children
into the BCC family in the fall.
