Boston Children’s Chorus (BCC) is committed to providing the youth of Greater Boston and beyond an opportunity to experience the transformative power of music. As a part of our regular programming, we offer ensembles at a variety of times, locations, and skill levels from September through May each year. BCC has 13 different choirs which rehearse at 5 different sites throughout the city.
Training choirs are comprised of treble singers ages 7-12. This program develops music basics such as theory, interval training, rhythm and sight-singing techniques. Attention span and concentration are points of focus. Choirs meet for 90 minutes once a week.
For the 2018-2019 school year, choirs meet at four Boston locations:
Intermediate choirs are comprised of treble singers ages 10-14. This level requires individual attentiveness, vocal skills and theory comprehension while offering varied repertoire and performance experiences. Intermediate Choirs meet two hours once a week while the Intermediate Advanced Choir meets 90 minutes twice a week.
For the 2018-2019 school year, choirs meet at two Boston locations:
Jr. Men's Ensemble
This program was created in 2015 to meet the unique needs of boys ages 10-18 with changing and recently changed voices who might not otherwise have a place to sing in a treble-only choral program.
Choral Union was created in 2010 for treble singers ages 12-18 who demonstrate enthusiasm for singing. The ensemble focuses on intensive vocal and music theory training.
For singers age 12-18 with advanced musical skills, there are 3 choirs at the advanced level: Concert Choir, Young Men's Ensemble, and Premier Choir.
Concert Choir is a treble ensemble of advanced singers ages 12-18. These singers receive intensive training in music theory and performance skills. Concert Choir performances include regional tours and symphonic works.
Young Men’s Ensemble
Young Men’s Ensemble is comprised of advanced singers ages 12-18 with changed voices. Our premier performing group offers a stimulating, comprehensive and demanding choral repertoire requiring an advanced level of musical skill. The Young Men's Ensemble participates in local, national and international tours.
Premier Choir is an ensemble for the most advanced treble singers ages 14-18. Our premier performing group offers a stimulating, comprehensive and demanding choral repertoire requiring an advanced level of musical skill. The Premier Choir participates in local, national and international tours.
