Boston Children's Chorus Members Perform at Democratic National Convention (DNC)
In Spring 2004 the Boston Children’s Chorus (BCC) pulled together several children’s choruses from the Greater Boston area with the intention of creating one racially diverse collaborative chorus specifically to perform for 15,000 journalists at the Media Festival hosted by the City of Boston and the Boston Globe. The collaborative chorus was given the name Children’s Voices of Greater Boston. Eighteen members of the Boston Children’s Chorus joined singers from the Handel and Haydn Youth Chorus, Boston City Singers and the Longy Youth Chorale to perform at the following events: the Children’s Museum (part of Celebrate Boston 2004) on July 22nd at 10:00AM, the Media Festival on July 24th at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center (BCEC); and at the Fleet Center for the actual convention - July 27th.
We showed the nation that Boston supports and celebrates children and diversity!
The Children’s Voices of Greater Boston will consider future opportunities to perform at large-scale civic events where a celebration of children and diversity through song is appropriate and desired.
