Community & Artistic Collaborations

Collaborating with community and other partners is integral to BCC’s vision of creating a social and cultural legacy for Boston’s youth, families and communities. BCC has initiated and cultivated partnerships with organizations that serve Latino, African-American and other traditionally underserved populations as part of our Neighborhood Choir Program, which consists of training and intermediate-level choirs.

Neighborhood Choirs

Our current partners are the United South End Settlements (USES) in Boston’s South End, First Parish in Dorchester, the Perry K-8 School in South Boston and the West End House Boys & Girls Club in Allston-Brighton. These choirs draw diverse singers from the partner neighborhoods, and they also draw singers from the suburbs into these urban communities. Through these collaborations, BCC increases access to our arts education program by deepening our presence in these neighborhoods.

Artistic Collaborations

New England Conservatory (NEC) is our lead artistic partner, a primary benefit being the use of Jordan Hall for our annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Tribute Concert, which is BCC’s signature event of the year and one of Boston’s major ways to celebrate the MLK holiday.

School Partners

BCC has formed a collaboration with the Boston Public Schools (BPS) Arts Office in implementing an intensive, BPS music teacher study group that gives teachers district-wide an opportunity to gain curriculum and instruction tools that will make an impact on their students.
