Girls just want to be seen and heard. Concert Choir confronts the limits and scope of femininity. Along with the female staff of the Boston Children’s Chorus, our young women grapple with the barriers and labels society thrusts upon their gender, their status as mothers and daughters, and empower one another in song.
Shea Rose also joins BCC. She is a singer-songwriter, performing artist, and music for social change activitist. She explores soul, rock, and hip hop whil empowering her community. She is a graduate of Berklee College of Music and was hand-picked by legendary musician and actress Queen Latifah for a CoverGirl music campaign and BET Awards appearance. Rose was coined “America’s next generation of female talent” and has been described by former Boston Globe music critic Steve Morse as “that rare artist who can bridge diverse styles such as soul, funk, rock, rap and jazz -- and bring her unique stamp to each.” She is currently the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum RISE Music Series curator with Composer/Producer Simone Scazzocchio.
