BRAVE is being true to yourself. BRAVE is listening to opposing viewpoints. BRAVE is using your voice to make the world a better place for all.

In this moving and exciting performance, members of the Boston Children’s Chorus use choral music as a platform to explore the challenges facing young people today, and the bravery required to surmount them. Focusing on issues of identity and gender equity, singers will share their personal stories alongside powerful songs in a range of folk, popular, and classical styles. Boston-based singer/songwriter/activist Shea Rose will collaborate with the singers and share her own story of finding her voice in a music industry that often silences strong women. Prepare to be inspired as you listen to the voices of some of Boston’s rising stars and learn about BRAVE people throughout the world who are empowering women in an effort to make positive change for all.

Shea Rose also joins BCC. She is a singer-songwriter, performing artist, and music for social change activist.  She explores soul, rock, and hip hop whil empowering her community. She is a graduate of Berklee College of Music and was hand-picked by legendary musician and actress Queen Latifah for a CoverGirl music campaign and BET Awards appearance. Rose was coined “America’s next generation of female talent” and has been described by former Boston Globe music critic Steve Morse as “that rare artist who can bridge diverse styles such as soul, funk, rock, rap and jazz -- and bring her unique stamp to each.”  She is currently the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum RISE Music Series curator with Composer/Producer Simone Scazzocchio.

There will be a post-concert reception that all audience members are welcome to attend.  Light refreshments will be served.  Come meet the singers, friends, and families of BCC!
