Join members of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, the Boston Children’s Chorus' Concert Choir, and special guests to celebrate the music of Aline Shader with arrangements for 15-piece big band, youth chorus, and special guests by Carlos Henriquez (bassist with Wynton Marsalis, Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra).

This promises to be a memorable afternoon with a blend of timeless, uplifting lyrics and lilting melodies with a big-band sound. Guest soloists include Julie Silver, Kate Taylor, Kemp Harris, Joel Esher, and Johanna Grüssner.

Shader (1936–2002) was a beloved composer and drama teacher in Newton, Massachusetts, and an artist-in-residence in Boston-area schools. She loved the sound of young voices, the smiles on young faces, and the joy that comes from singing together. Shader understood the power of music to build confidence, spur imagination, and foster unity.

All ticket sales benefit Reach Out & Read, which provides young children a foundation for success by incorporating books into pediatric care and encouraging families to read aloud together. The program serves more than 4.7 million children and their families across the nation, with a special emphasis on serving those in low-income communities, providing books in more than 14 languages.
