The Harvard Radcliffe Collegium Musicum, Harvard Glee Club, Radcliffe Choral Society, and Boston Modern Orchestra Project will perform Michael Tippett’s A Child of Our Time and Trevor Weston’s Griot Legacies.
Timeless themes of oppression, peace, darkness and light pervade Tippett’s 1941 composition. Weston's Griot Legacies also weaves spirituals into a modern compositional language that "hint at the spiritual's bittersweet ancestry." (Steve Smith, Boston Globe).
Harvard Choruses alumni will join the choruses during the performance on the spirituals featured in Tippett’s A Child of Our Time.
