Special Initiatives

Tribute Gifts

There are moments in our lives that we all want to remember. In celebration of a birthday, graduation, holiday or special event, please consider making a gift to Boston Children’s Chorus in honor of a BCC singer or another special someone in your life. A handwritten note will be sent to the honoree and you will receive a thank you letter for your thoughtful gift. Please include the name and mailing address of the person you are honoring when you make your gift.

Ambassadors of Harmony Circle

BCC remains a vibrant organization because of the strength and generosity of its alumni community. BCC is proud to be the home of social harmony in the Commonwealth. Our Ambassador of Harmony Circle is a new loyalty society that recognizes our ever growing alumni network and connects alumni to BCC’s most up-to-date priorities and artistic programs. The Ambassadors of Harmony Circle supports BCC singers' music education ensuring that every child has the opportunity to be a BCC singer regardless of financial ability. By supporting BCC's music programs and social integration initiatives, our alumni continue to inspire social change long after they've left our rehearsal and performance spaces.

Artists-in-Residence Sponsorship

BCC builds relationships with leading professional artists and scholars in the field of music and music education. These leaders interact and collaborate with BCC singers and the Boston community, providing meaningful musical experiences for concertgoers and singers alike.

BCC's signature music education training program, the Professional Development Weekend, serves as an annual showcase of the young singer's musical journey from rehearsal to performance while simultaneously providing expert, hands-on professional development for dozens of area music teachers.

BCC’s Professional Development Program for Music Teachers

BCC, in partnership with the Boston Public Schools Arts Office, has a long-standing commitment to district-wide professional development for music teachers through an annual BCC Study Group and Professional Development Weekend. This annual program gives teachers an opportunity to earn professional development points, gain curriculum and instruction tools that will make an impact on their students, and join a growing, empowered and supportive community of music educators working in the Boston Public Schools.

Teaching and Accompanist Fellowships

Teaching Fellows work closely with each choir’s conductor in frequently monitoring student achievement and developing appropriate lesson plans. They also support the conductors by assisting and serving as role models during rehearsals and performances. The Teaching Fellows are recent graduates of area university and conservatory bachelors and masters programs in music education, conducting and voice. Accompanists are current students or recent graduates of area university and conservatory bachelors and masters programs who participate in every rehearsal and most performances.

Tours and Excursions

Tours provide once-in-a-lifetime performing and youth development experiences for our BCC members abroad and in the United States. Through this travel and the pre-tour education programs, singers’ lives are changed as they learn about foreign cultures, their histories, and from friendships across global boundaries. They become informed, global citizens and young leaders who contribute to the advancement of their respective communities. They also have a direct impact on our younger BCC members as they share their experience at the start of the new season with the larger choir family. BCC has traveled to Czech Republic, Germany, Mexico, Japan, Jordan, England, Vietnam and Cambodia and various cities around the United States.
