
Mahima Kumara
Assistant Conductor
Mahima Kumara is a conductor and singer from State College, Pennsylvania, whose work centers on equity in music education. She is excited to join BCC this year as the Assistant Conductor for Recital Choir and Accompanist for South Boston Training. Mahima graduated in 2020 from Yale College, where she studied Statistics & Data Science and Education Studies. She also sang in the Yale Glee Club and studied piano with Elizabeth Parisot at the Yale School of Music. Mahima previously worked as a Teaching Artist and postgraduate fellow with the Yale Music in Schools Initiative, supporting and expanding the initiative’s choirs and academic mentorship programs for New Haven Public Schools students. In the Boston area, she co-directs Tactus Ensemble Cambridge, sings with Cantata Singers, and has also conducted and sung with Triad: Boston’s Choral Collaborative. Mahima enjoys exploring Indian classical music, venturing to new libraries and bookstores, and trail running, especially in the mountains around her hometown.
